Yossi and Jennifer have lived in the mountains of Western North Carolina for a few years. Their small orchard had apples, pear, and persimmon trees. More than thirty chickens lived in their coop. Beth David celebrated Purim this year a little differently. As stated in a previous post, leadership decided to mark the holiday by giving to organizations that fight food insecurity. As is the custom to give treats of food to friends and family, the synagogue chose groups that help feed families in Greensboro and Israel year round.

In addition to helping others, Beth David members took turns reading the Megillah, Book of Esther and...Read more...

During Purim this year we are giving back to organizations in Greensboro and Israel that focus on food insecurity. Some of the groups may be familiar while others may be new to you. The two philanthropies in Israel are Leket and The Jaffa Institute. Both programs have seen needs grow exponentially since October 7. Locally, we will be donating to the Guilford County Schools lunch program.

The Jaffa Institute is a private...Read more...

I arrived safely in Israel this morning after 24 hours of travel. As soon as we got off the plane our day began. Today was all about the Israeli people coming together and helping each other. It was a picture of resiliency. Today was also about honoring the 240 hostages taken by Hamas. And I ran into a familiar face!
