As many of you know, I am a dog lover. Not only do I have my own rescue dog, I foster dogs through Red Dog Farms. Today, my own rescue dog turned 13! I've always struggled with the concept of a "bark mitzvah" - can we apply human rules and traditions to dogs? But why not? I was going to celebrate his birthday anyway, 13 is pretty old in dog years for a medium sized dog. So today - in the middle of Hurricane Debby - my dog Milo had his "bark mitzvah," complete with a blessing from Rabbi Gleason and a festive snack to celebrate.
