Hazak is a program for seniors, age 60 and up.  It includes a monthly lunch and learn on various topics ranging from self-care to history to entertainment. Local leaders content, as well as outside visitors and experts. Each weekly lunch and learn program features a speaker or entertainment, a KOSHER buffet, and great company all for $5 a person.

We have occasional day trips, sometimes in partnership with Temple Emanuel’s Friendship Circle, Jewish Family Services or with Beth David’s Sisterhood.

  • October 25, 2022:  When Jews were Funny.  A portion of the film "When Jews were Funny" will be shown and a discussion on Jewish identity will be facilitated by Jason Cathcart. 
  • November 15, 2022:  Maintaining our Balance. Discussion and demonstrations of how to improve and enhance our balance as we age. Audience participation encouraged. Discussion leader is Anne Hoffman, Certified Yoga Teacher. Anne has years of experience as a yoga teacher and works with people of all age ranges.
  • December 13, 2022: Trivia Contest.  Try your skill in teams or as individuals. Guess what the grand prize will be! Emcee to be announced.
  • January 17, 2023: Decluttering and Downsizing.  Whether or not you are planning to move to a smaller place, it always feels good to organize your belongings, maybe not so much to get rid of them, but that's another story. We will have a local expert in to walk us through the process and answer any questions we might have.
  • February 21, 2023: American History Lecture. Lecture on Jewish Resistance during World War II presented by Dr. Anne Parsons, Associate Professor of History at UNC Greensboro.
  • March 21, 2023: Best Passover desserts with samples and recipes
